Collage with Nature: Making Dry Terrariums

A terrarium is a natural collage, a tiny world, a piece of the wild brought inside. Working with a diverse selection of plants and elements, workshop participants will experience the art of creating their own unique terrariums, exploring different styles while enjoying the process of making them. Instructor Amy Aiello grew up the daughter of a naturalist, learning about the poetics of plants and nature. Amy merges her creativity with her love of the natural world at Artemisia Garden Nursery and Gallery, where she specializes in terrariums, indoor gardening, and natural gifts for the home. The fee for this workshop is $30, which includes container, rocks, moss and/or lichen and plants necessary to create a basic terrarium. You will also have the option to purchase fun little treasures you find in the shop to personalize your terrarium.

Artemisia on 28th, SE Portland.
6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

$30. Members and guests only please.

Gen(i)us Program:
Grasses for Late Summer & Fall

Genus genius Carolyn Kolb is co-owner of Wind Dancer Garden located in Salem, specializing in ornamental grasses, phormiums and bamboos. The enormous popularity of ornamental grasses in recent years speaks to their versatility in the garden, as specimens, fillers, ground covers, or backdrops. Carolyn and her husband, Larry, have spent the last 10 years developing Wind Dancer Garden, and they now grow over 100 varieties of grasses, bamboo, and Phormium. An on-site ornamental display showcases the plants to best advantage. Carolyn will speak about a number of grasses and grass-like plants that are suitable and effective in our climate and soils, showing us pictures of them and discussing their culture and care. She will also have plants available for sale.
