Arrival Day

We depart Rome Fiumicino Airport at 2 p.m. and arrive in San Quirico d'Orcia in time for an exploration of the town before dinner.

Theory and Practice

After the first theory session, it's off into town to apply the lessons of the morning. During the day, you will not only receive advice and instruction, but will also see how a professional photographer approaches a new location. Before dinner there will be a brief slide show of Paul's work.

Siena

Visual Revelry

The morning will be spent at the Abbazia di Sant'Antimo, a visually stunning Romanesque church nestled into a pastoral landscape of olive groves and wooded hills. Legend tells that it was founded by Charlemagne in 781. After lunch we explore in and around the beautiful village of Montalcino, home of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, two of Italy's finest wines.

Siena dawn

Dawn and Bagno Vignoni

You'll want to set your alarm as dawn shows the rolling Tuscan landscape at its best - the texturing effect of the low-angle sunlight with, hopefully, the whole scene accentuated by the mist filling the valley floor. Later we enjoy a restful time by the hotel pool or reviewing photographs. In the evening there's a visit to the nearby roman spa of Bagno Vignoni with its bubbling pools.

Siena

Free Day in Siena

Creative opportunities abound in Siena, from the unique Piazza del Campo to the Duomo. A city is not only about its buildings - Siena allows candid people shots, perhaps at the lively weekly market.

San Biaggio, Montepulciano

Montepulciano

Now we're ready to attempt the classic views that epitomise this most beautiful landscape. The fortified medieval town of Montepulciano offers superb opportunities within its walls as well as distant views beyond.

San Quirico

We will use the final day to review our work and revisit nearby locations with a fresh approach using our new skills.

Departure Day

We depart early for Rome Fiumicino airport, for 10:15 arrival.
